Protected species

Protection of species of plants and animals is to ensure the survival and accurate state of protection of wild plants, fungi and animals and their habitats, as well as the preservation of species and genetic diversities. The protection applies to rare and endemic species, vulnerable, endangered and protected by international agreements.

Within Sława Śląska Forest District the following species have been spotted: 2 lichen species, 10 species of bryophytes and 35 vascular plant species under protection. 16 species of vascular flora are under strict protection, and all lichens, bryophytes and 19 species of vascular flora are under partial protection.

Animal world also includes numerous protected species, e.g. 14 species of amphibians, 5 species of reptiles. Near reservoirs one can meet otters and protected birds such as crane, white-tailed eagle, black woodpecker, the black kite and ore.
